CONFIGURATION OF THE SCHOOL DAY

The Configuration of the School Day policy has been revised to:
• align the hours of instruction for a secondary programme (Years 8 to 10) to the School Education Regulations 2000 with the option of a form class rather than building in a 10 minute form class (as per previous policy);
• define the process for changes to the configuration of the school day which commonly occur in schools; and
• incorporate guidelines regarding school speed zones.

CONTRIBUTIONS, CHARGES AND FEES

The Contributions, Charges and Fees policy has been updated to update information regarding external agency assistance schemes for 2010.

CURRICULUM, ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING

The Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting policy has been revised and was effective from January 2010. This updates the former Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting K-10: Policy and Guidelines.

HEALTHY FOOD AND DRINK

The Healthy Food and Drink policy has been updated to reflect new requirements legislated in the Food Act 2008 and the Food Regulations 2009.

POLICIES CHANGED FOR THE WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS POLICY

The following generic procedural statement regarding the Working With Children Checks policy has been incorporated into the above policies.

Principals and managers must confirm that all Department of Education (Department) employees, volunteers, visitors and external providers in child-related work have applied for or hold a valid Working with Children Check in accordance with the Department’s Working With Children Checks policy available from the Policies website at http://www.det.wa.edu.au/policies.
