Inclusive Education ‹ Statewide Specialist Services

Providing Statewide Specialist Services

Statewide Specialist Services provide support for students with disabilities and diverse learning needs through teams of visiting teachers and support officers working from the Centre for Inclusive Schooling, Hospital School Services, Speech and Language Service, Vision Education Service and the Western Australian Institute for Deaf Education.

These services collaborate to provide effective and equitable service provision to school communities. Statewide Specialist Services also provide specialist support to the Inclusive Education Teams visiting teachers and support officers working in district education offices.

Overview

Statewide Specialist Services is the name given to a range of services that support inclusive teaching and learning practices in districts and schools for students with disabilities and diverse learning needs across the state. These services include:

Outcomes

  • specialist support services are provided that meet national and international benchmarks
  • student outcomes improve for targeted groups
  • service charters are negotiated with districts and school communities
  • information and resources are shared across Statewide Specialist Services
  • high quality professional learning is provided by Statewide Specialist Services
