Involving parents/carers

Parents/carers play a vital role in their child’s transition planning process. Particularly for young people with more complex needs, parental involvement is crucial. Research indicates that more positive post-school outcomes are achieved for young people with a disability when their parents/carers are actively involved in the transition planning process.

Together with their child, parents/carers are key members of the transition planning team.

Templates and Fact sheets for parents/carers

Fact sheets for parents/carers provide information for parents/ carers about the transition planning process and ways they can support the process.

Questionnaires assist parents/carers  in putting together their views about their hopes and aspirations for their child’s future.

These resources are available on the templates and fact sheets for parents and carers page.
