Competency Framework for Education Assistants (Special Needs)

The Competency Framework for Education Assistants (Special Needs) describes key dimensions and standards of performance for EASN in supporting the curriculum delivery and participation of students with disabilities across a range of settings. It also identifies areas of professional learning to support development of the competencies described within.

The Framework can be used by:

  • EASN to reflect on their professional effectiveness and determine areas for professional growth
  • School staff who are involved with performance management of EASN
  • Tertiary institutions who offer EASN training
  • Departmental staff developing professional learning for EASN
  • District Office Committees who assess applications for Level increase
