Non-government organisations
help to improve the educational opportunities and personal development of primary and secondary school students.
Overview
The Community Relations Program works in partnership with a number of local community non-government organisations to provide
a range of services to students in state schools.
Financial assistance is provided to selected non government organisations by the Department of Education and Training who
is responsible for:
- the development of service level agreements
- the promotion of community and non-government organisations in the delivery of educational services in state schools

Local community organisations that receive financial assistance from the Community Relations Program include:

- The Safety House Association Inc
- The Smith Family
- The School Volunteer Program Inc
- YouthCare (formerly Churches Commission on Education)
- National School Chaplaincy Program (NSCP)
- Dyslexia Speld Foundation Inc
- School Sport WA Inc
- Disability Access and Inclusion Plans
- Therapy Services
Outcomes
Funding of local community non-government organisations is provided to:
- support schools and districts to ensure students achieve the standards expected of them
- encourage student participation in engaging learning programs
- assist schools and districts in the effective management of student diversity
- provide programs that support development of safe, inclusive and supporting environments that are conducive to effective
learning
