Engaging the community

Engaging the CommunityPromoting community participation in student education helps achieve better outcomes for all.

Overview

The Community Engagement Program assists and supports districts and schools in their planning and implementation of programs which:

  • work to build partnerships with the local community and businesses
  • encourage parents to take an active role in discussing their children’s learning and be actively involved in school planning and policy development

Outcomes

The Community Engagement Program aims to:

  • develop a culture of participation, encouraging staff engagement with the broader community through the Family Links program
  • co-ordinating and improving relationships between agencies
  • promoting inclusive practices and removing barriers to community participation
  • establishing strategies and policy for best practice guidelines for engaging with the community
