Recruitment and Selection goes Online

Since 20 July 2009, recruitment and selection for school administrators, school psychologist and teaching positions in local merit select schools, has gone online!

Online recruitment and selection has been in place for Principals since April 2008. This online recruitment process will now extend to include Deputy Principal positions, and all local merit selection processes for the recruitment, selection and appointment of teachers. The benefits of an online process include streamlining of the application process for both applicants and selection panels.

A new Jobs WA jobs board for teaching, school administrator and school psychologist positions

A Jobs WA site for DET has been created specifically for teachers, school administrators and school psychologist positions. All vacancies for these positions will appear on this site at www.jobs.det.wa.edu.au as well as the general Jobs WA site. Applicants accessing this site will be able to filter their search more easily as only DET vacancies for the above positions will appear on this site. Existing users of the previous DET Jobs Online (SITVAC) system will receive notification of the change and a new login and password for the new jobs board.

Advertising – what do I do now?

If you have a vacancy, or potential vacancy, initially discuss this with your Staffing Consultant to determine if the vacancy is likely to be cleared

• Once you have identified that you are likely to advertise, complete a Manager Request Form – for further information, click here.
• Become familiar with the RAMS system.

Training is currently scheduled on a regular basis. Workshop schedules will be advertised on this site, however if you wish to receive email notification of upcoming workshops please email the Recruitment - Schools team by clicking here.

There are a range of HR Consultants on the Common Use Arrangement for HR Services – Recruitment who have attended training in RAMS. If you have approval to use a Consultant, and wish to gain assistance in the recruitment and selection process, you may wish to contact one who has completed RAMS training. Located within the Human Resources Services branch of the Education and Training Shared Service Centre (ETSSC) the Recruitment – Schools team provides support and services for the recruitment, selection and appointment of all school administrator staff (except Principals) and teachers based in Local Merit Select schools. The Recruitment – Schools team works closely with the Principal Recruitment team, established in 2008 to assist with the recruitment and selection of Principals.

This team is dedicated to providing efficient and effective services to assist schools the most suitable person consistent with the needs and context of the school. The team continues to develop simplified processes aimed at both panels and applicants by making use of the Recruitment Advertising Management Systems (RAMS).

This team sits within the broader HR Services team which is also responsible for providing recruitment and advertising services to a broad client base, including the Department of Education and Training (DET), TAFEWA, Curriculum Council and the Department of Education Services.
