How to Nominate

INDIVIDUALS

A nomination includes five steps:

1. School context
Briefly describe the school and its community, the characteristics of the student group and the nominee’s role in the school (limited to half A4 page).

2. Summary of nomination
Briefly describe the main focus of the nominee’s work, major achievements and impact on student learning, wellbeing and/or opportunities (limited to half A4 page).

3. Statement against selection criteria
Set out in detail the nominee’s achievements against each of the three selection criteria.

Refer to the specific award category for the selection criteria. Below each criterion are prompts which can be used as a guide to the range of information that could be included.

It is important to support the nomination with relevant examples that clearly show what has been achieved.

Information and evidence may be presented as text, graphics and/or tables.

The statement is limited to FIVE A4 pages in total using a minimum of 11 point arial font with adequate spacing.

The selection criteria are based on the Australian Awards for Teaching Excellence managed on behalf of the profession by Teaching Australia. Statements of claim against the selection criteria prepared for the WA Education Awards may be used in nominations for the
Australian Awards for Teaching Excellence.

4. Referee statements
Two referees who know the work of the nominee are invited to provide a short written statement outlining their perspective of the nominee’s work and achievements. Referees may include people within or beyond the school community.

Each referee statement is limited to one A4 page using a minimum of 11 point arial font with adequate spacing.

If the nominee is shortlisted for an award, referees may be contacted for further comment.

5. Nomination form
Fill in the nomination form and have it endorsed by the designated person.
