Western Australian Monitoring Standards in Education

The Western Australian Monitoring Standards in Education (WAMSE) assessment program appraises the performance of students in aspects of Science and Society and Environment. This complements the information from the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).

In 2010, WAMSE will assess:

Learning Area Years
Science 5, 7 and 9
Society and Environment 5, 7 and 9

In previous years, WAMSE assessed the following year groups:

Learning Area 2008 2009
Science 7 and 9 5, 7 and 9
Society and Environment 9 7 and 9

All public school students in the above years are involved in these assessments. The Year 9 assessment replaces the Monitoring Standards in Education Year 9 Science (MSE9 Science).
