Western Australian Monitoring Standards in Education Website

The MSE9 program has been renamed the Western Australian Monitoring Standards in Education (WAMSE) assessment program and will continue to be held in week 3 of Term 3 each year. All future Western Australian population assessments will fall under this program.

The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) will replace the previous literacy and numeracy assessment programs of all Australian States and Territories. In Western Australia, it supersedes the WALNA and MSE9 programs for the assessment of English and Mathematics.

In 2008, the following will be assessed:

  • WAMSE7 (Year 7) - Science
  • WAMSE9 (Year 9) - Science
  • WAMSE9 (Year 9) - Society and Environment

All public school students in Years 7 and 9 are involved in these assessments. These annual assessments will provide schools with student and school level information.
