The Science Learning Area: Comparing Frameworks with Practice |
This module will provide an opportunity for curriculum leaders to improve their understanding of the nature of science described in the frameworks and how this is reflected in the outcomes. The Investigating scientifically strand of the SOS will be analysed as a means to improve student learning. |

The three modules form the leaders program for 1999 in the Science Learning Area.
Pre reading and an action task will be required for module 1.
The modules will connect through an action task that participants will be expected to engage between workshops.
Module strategies will be negotiated with each district to utilise the knowledge and specific expertise of Curriculum Improvement Officers and school-based leaders.
The modules will cater for the range of understandings that may exist between the identified school curriculum leaders.
Strategies providing school learning area leadership will be embedded in each module.

Planning for Improvement |
This module will provide an opportunity for curriculum leaders to improve their understanding of effective ways to plan for students learning using the frameworks.
For primary teachers, the planning will build on existing commonly used curriculum resources, particularly Primary Investigations.
