TECHNOLOGY AND ENTERPRISE - Year 7Assessment Tasks

Please be sure to adhere to Safety Principles, as outlined in the teachers manual, when using trimming or cutting equipment

MSE supplies

  • MSE Technology and Enterprise Primary Teachers Manual (one per school) OR Design and Technology Secondary Teachers Manual (one per school)
  • Class set of 32 A4 colour stimulus sheets (one set per school)
  • Student answer booklets

The school supplies

  • one HB pencil/pen (one per student)
  • unassembled Postpak box (either new or used) or a cardboard box (one per student). If new Postpak boxes are being used, purchase Size BC 220mm x 160mm x 77mm (suits A5).
  • The following table lists equipment that should be made available to the class:

Assessment time

  • 160 min in total (over two sessions):
    • Session 1: answer booklet questions; product planning
    • Session 2: product construction; materials and evaluation questions.

This time includes about 10 minutes for instructions and for distribution and collection of materials.

Canteen Fruit Promotion

  • Class set of 32 A4 colour stimulus sheets (one set per school)
  • Student answer booklets

The school supplies

  • one HB pencil/pen (for each student)
  • The following table lists equipment that should be made available to the class:

  • 2 plastic bowls or buckets for students to wash hands, where a wet area is not available
  • hand towels or towels
  • tea towels
  • dishwashing liquid
  • dish cloths
  • clean recycled plastic containers eg ice cream containers (for mixing fruit) or mixing bowl
  • newspaper (for protecting working surfaces and disposing of food scraps)
  • other class equipment and materials normally available
  • plastic cutting board
  • paring or vegetable knife
  • vegetable peeler
  • stainless steel desert spoon

Other consumable materials to be provided by the school

  • Food. Schools should provide a variety of fruit for each student to make one serving of the fruit product. A suggested shopping list for a class of 30-32 students is provided in the teachers manual.
  • Packaging Materials. A range of materials for packaging and presentation the fruit product should be provided, to allow for student choice. These may include tooth picks and wooden skewers, plastic cups, paper and plastic plates, plastic bags or plastic spoons.

Assessment time

  • 140 min in total (over two sessions):
    • Session 1: answer booklet questions; action planning
    • Session 2: making the fruit product; evaluation questions.

This time includes about 10 minutes for instructions and for distribution and collection of materials.

    • Session 2: product card production; evaluation questions.
