TECHNOLOGY AND ENTERPRISE - Year 10 Assessment Tasks

MSE supplies

  • MSE Design and Technology Secondary Teachers Manual (one per school)
  • Class set of A3 single sided colour stimulus sheets (one set per school)
  • Class set of A4 single sided materials sample sheets (one set per school)
  • Student answer booklets

The school supplies

  • One HB pencil/pen (for each student)
  • Class equipment as standard for Design and Technology classes
  • Consumable materials, as follows: material samples - cardboard, felt, acetate plastic, metal. (It is expected that students will make their prototypes using either pine or sheet metal materials, although some students may wish to use both. Different thicknesses and widths of materials may be provided to students, as appropriate to their individual design and within the parameters of what is normally available for students to use. Students are not required to apply finishes to their products.

Assessment time

  • 250 min in total (over two sessions):
    • Session 1 (70 mins): answer booklet questions
    • Session 2 (180 mins): construction of prototype and evaluation questions.

This time includes about 10 minutes for instructions and for distribution and collection of materials.

Please note the task may be conducted over an extended period of time. However, these changed circumstances should be taken into account when making comparisons to the state-wide normative information.

The school supplies

  • One HB pencil/pen (for each student)
  • Class equipment as standard for Home Economics classes
  • Consumable materials, which include a food order form and fruit for the task (see Teachers Manual)

Assessment time

  • 160 min in total (over two sessions):
    • Session 1 (70 mins): answer booklet questions
    • Session 2 (90 mins): preparation of product; evaluation

This time includes about 10 minutes for instructions and for distribution and collection of materials.
