  • MyRead supports teachers of underperforming students in the middle years (Years 4 – 9). The MyRead website provides strategies for teaching reading in the middle years and is an initiative of the Department of Education, Science and Training.

  • Standards for Teachers of English Language and Literacy in Australia (STELLA) provides a detailed picture of accomplished English/Literacy teaching. The Standards have been developed by teacher members of AATE and ALEA around Australia and are supported by national and state ETA Councils in all states and territories.

  • Teaching and Learning Capital Fund (TLCF) for Vocational Education and Training (VET) - A full list of successful institutes and their planned projects is now available.

  • The Australian Literacy Educators’ Association is an independent professional association dedicated to literacy development and English language learning at all levels of education - click here to view the Professional Development Calendar for 2009.

  • The One World Centre is located in Bayswater and aims to provide transformative education that encourages and supports an active and engaged citizenship by promoting a just and sustainable world and enabling people to recognise the roles they can play both locally and globally. Fee based membership is available to schools or individuals and provides access to loaned resources (including books, kits and audiovisual items) and professional development opportunities.
  • Notschool.net is a UK based international 'Online Learning Community' facilitated by the Inclusion Trust offering an alternative to traditional education for young people who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to engage with school or other complementary provisions such as home tutoring or specialist units. A great source of information for staff working with or doing research on disengaged students.

  • Picture Australia and The Learning Federation (TLF) have worked together to provide a series of themed digital picture trails (collections) available to be downloading from their website.  Each trails is accompanied by a supporting Education Values Statement.
  • Did you know you can apply to Tafe, Murdoch, Edith Cowan and Notre Dame Universities to use their Libraries as a reciprocal borrower? You need to apply in person at the each institution and present them with your employee ID and Department of Education and Training Library card.
  • Organising a school anniversary celebration? Queensland Department of Education Library Services have a great guide and countdown checklist to ensure everything goes according to plan!
  • Register for Speechmark Publishing's Speech Therapy Today to receive a fortnightly e-newsletter dealing with developing social & emotional skills and behaviour management, as well as information about resources to assist with working with students with learning disabilities, behavioural issues and other special needs.
