Access
to the Library
Who can access the library? All Departmental staff are able to have access to the library and are able to borrow materials.
Public are free to come into the library and browse and use the library materials in the library but are not allowed to borrow.
Library staff can only undertake research or follow up on queries on behalf
of current staff members.
How do I join the
library?
All Departmental staff are able to join the library by
completing the
Membership
form and faxing back to the library
Do I need a library card?
No, you do not need a library card to access the catalogue,
but if you wish to place holds on any items and/or review the
items that you have out on loan you will need a library card with
your barcode and 5 digit pin number to access the Catalalogue.

What are the library's opening hours? Opening hours are Monday -Friday 8am to 5 pm.
Is the library open during the school holidays? Yes
Finding Information and Resources
How do I access the library catalogue? The library catalogue is available on the Library's Intranet site as well as the Internet site
How do I find out about new resources? New resources are listed on the library's monthly publication What's New. A selected number of journals are also listed on the website There are a number e-sites that will give you access to e-refences, e-journals
Can I suggest material for purchase? Yes, Please email the library with the details such as author, title, publisher and place of publication as well ISBN or ISSN if possible.
Can library staff help me locate information or resources on a particular topic? Yes, please fill out the Subject Bibliographic Form and fax to the library
Borrowing
How do I borrow books? Once registered, items may be requested by email to the library or logon to the catalogue to place a hold/request on the item you wish to borrow.
How many books can I borrow? Up to 8 items can be borrowed at one time.
How long can I keep books out for? The standard loan period for books is 4 weeks and for journals 2 weeks. There is also the possiblity of extension if you email the library on or before the due date of the item
How will I know my loans are due? At the back of the book/journal will be a date due slip with the due date written or you may visit the catalogue and login to your Patron Information which will give you which items you have on loan and when due.
How can I renew a book? Please email or phone (08) 9264 4952 the library and staff will renew your books.
Can I reserve a book that's on loan? Yes, visit the catalogue search for the item that you which to reserve and click on the Request tab. You will need your barcode and pin number to be able to do this.
How do I return a book? Books can be returned in person or posted to the library.
