The Injury Management Consultants provides rehabilitation assistance and support to employees who have sustained an injury or illness, and to principals or line managers to assist managing and supporting employees with an injury or illness.

The main focus of the Injury Management Consultants is to:

  • Facilitate an early return to work of injured or ill employees.
  • Reduce the personal and financial cost of injury and illness to employees.

The Injury Management Consultants will:

  • Determine the injured or ill employee's rehabilitation needs, through discussion with the employee, his or her medical practitioner and/or principal or line manager.
  • Refer to and implement quality assurance programs, to monitor the rehabilitation services provided by Accredited Vocational Rehabilitation Providers.
  • Provide advice and training on rehabilitation issues and the return to work process.
  • Develop strategies and implement services to facilitate the early return to work of injured or ill employees, including evaluation of workplace facilities and, identification of appropriate suitable duties compatible with medical restrictions.
  • Recommend and deliver appropriate injury prevention strategies, for example, ergonomic assessments and training on stress management methods.
  • Provide advice and support for employees who are unable to return to their substantive position due to medical reasons, explore options including retirement on the grounds of ill health.
