OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH REPRESENTATIVES |

Safety representatives are required to participate in a five day training course that has been accredited by the WorkSafe Western Australia Commission. The Employee Support Bureau coordinates training in each of the country districts. If you would like to register for training, please contact your District Office Support Officer. Metropolitan courses are held by several training providers. For a list of accredited providers, please contact the Department Safety Officers. Election of a safety
representative is in accordance with Part IV of the Occupational
Safety and Health Act 1984
Once the course is completed, the functions of the safety representative are stated in Section 33 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and summarised as:
