This policy is under review.

In an emergency, it may be necessary to evacuate students from a school. Principals must prepare an evacuation plan for their school and carry out a practical evacuation exercise at least twice a year. As the needs for each school will be different, no common plan can be prepared for all schools.

PDF Document However, the comments given in the Emergency and Critical Incident Management Plan provides guidelines when preparing individual school plans. Each member of the staff must be aware of the plan.

The guidelines were developed by the Fire Safety Branch of the WA Fire Brigades Board, in conjunction with the Police Department, State Emergency Services and the Department.

If you require any further information on this subject, please contact the Department's Safety Officers.
