Brief Description: Students place results of a sporting competition such as football, netball, hockey or basketball in a spreadsheet. These are often found on the Internet.
Expected Outcomes:
  • Tabulate data and assign a score for a win, loss or draw.
  • Calculate ratio of points for to points against
  • Check and verify that the sum of columns is correct
  • Understands symbolic representation of database formula.
Learning Activities/
Experience:
  1. Create a spreadsheet to keep the record of a sporting fixture. A score for a win, loss and draw must be allocated.

  2. Express the ratio of points or goals for the team to points or goals scored against the team as a percentage using appropriate spreadsheet formula.

  3. Use the total columns to check and validate that the data entry is correct.
