Information for parents of school students

The It Pays to Learn Allowance is an annual payment of $200 made to parents for each student turning 16 or 17 in 2008 in Years 11 and 12.

All public and private schools with students enrolled in Years 11 and 12 will receive information packs which they will send home in February 2008.

The information packs include a letter from the Minister , and an application form.

The application form has not been included on the website to ensure that each family only receives and submits one form.

If parents have not received an information pack by March 2008, please telephone the It Pays to Learn Allowance Line and one will be mailed directly to you.

Parents are asked to fill out the simple application form and return it to their child's school by 20 March 2008. This will ensure payments for 2008 are made promptly.

Due to privacy requirements, payments can only be made once an application form has been submitted and processed.

Parents who have eligible children starting in a WA school during the year can apply for the It Pays to Learn Allowance at the time of enrolment in the school.
