Priorities for early childhood development and learning in Western Australia

The priority for early childhood development and learning in Western Australia is for every child to have access to high quality, affordable learning and development services no matter where they live.

This will be achieved by making sure:

• parents and families have the best advice possible about what they can do to maximise their child's development and learning;
• child care, Kindergarten, Pre-primary and school programs are better coordinated; and
• the highest quality Kindergarten, Pre-primary and junior primary school programs are delivered and help parents and early childhood professionals work together to give children the best start to life.

To encourage this, the following projects will be put in place over the next five years:

• Parent factsheet – Increase to Kindergarten hours
• Children and Family Centres
• Australian Early Development Index
