About Us

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

What is it ?

Vocational Education and Training is education and training for work. It exists to develop and recognise the competencies or skills of learners. Vocational Education and Training is an industries-led system though the leadership of industry-recognised training packages by representative bodies.

Training Packages specify the competencies that must be achieved from the learning materials, industries requirements for assessment, and that result from competence.

Across the Canning district, VET is part of approved secondary study programs. These courses are nationally recognised as entry level training and the qualification is transportable across Australia.

Students undertaking VET in schools gain dual accreditation for both the Certificate of Secondary Graduation and a VET qualification.

The following strategies form the basis of effective pathway development for VET students ensuring successful transition.
