The Aboriginal Education Team is committed to improving the educational outcomes of Aboriginal students through assisting schools with the implementation of the Creating the Vision Aboriginal Education Strategy.
Lesley Radloff - Manager Aboriginal Education
- Provides strategic leadership to schools to assist with the implementation of Department of Education and Training policies and strategies.
- Assists schools with the development and implementation of strategies to improve learning outcomes for Aboriginal students.
- Liaises and negotiates with external clients and parents.
- Develops and implements district-based programs.
Lyall Garlett - Coordinator Aboriginal Education
- Works in partnership with the district Aboriginal Liaison Officers to provide leadership in the area of Aboriginal Education.
- Provides a leadership role alongside the managers of Curriculum and Student Services with the Aboriginal Liaison Officers to improve outcomes in Aboriginal Education.
- Assists in developing and implementing polices and programs strategically aimed at improving outcomes in Aboriginal Education
Dawn Holland - Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALOs)
- Develop an Aboriginal support network consisting of Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs) and Aboriginal Liaison Officers (ALOs).
- Foster effective partnerships between the Aboriginal and education communities to ensure Aboriginal students attend and participate in school.
- Organise and participate in seminars with teachers and parents on issues relating to Aboriginal Education.
- Provide leadership to the district and schools by developing and providing professional development support on the implementation of the Creating the Vision Aboriginal Education Strategy.
- Provide advice to district and schools on cross cultural education issues.
- Represents the Department of Education and Training on committees and boards on issues relating to Aboriginal Education.
