Three key members of the District Office are moving onto new positions. Maura O'Connell School Psychologist, Vanessa Aikins EVE Coordinator and Ros June PATHS Coordinator are off to Fremantle DO, Warnbro SHS and Central Office respectively. Adding to the departures, Sam James our PEAC Coordinator is retiring.
Maura, Vanessa, Ros and Sam leave the Canning District having made significant contributions to our schools and we wish them well for the future. Good luck!
CONGRATULATIONS TO RETIRING PRINCIPALS
Three of our Principal colleagues are retiring at the end of this term. Neil Taylor of Forrestfield PS, Paul Woodley of Forrestdale PS and David Lindup from Maddington PS have decided to bring their long and esteemed careers to an end. TRIBES LEARNING COMMUNITIES TRAINERS
Canning Education District is committed to extending the availability of Tribes Learning Communities Training to support the identified need for professional learning and support throughout the district.
To support this need the Canning Education District is providing the funding for 4 teachers to participate in the Tribes Training Course in Victoria on October 3-7. The funding provided will cover costs of registration, flights and travel allowance. I am seeking expressions of interest from teachers who fulfill the requirements as described in the attached registration packet to undertake this training. It is important that all requirements for registration are satisfied. The expression of interest will need to include:
Completed registration as per Tribes Registration Packet (attached)
Signed agreement from Teacher and Principal regarding training provision (see attachment).
Please review the attached documents for full details and information including information for the Principal and Teacher.
The closing date is Monday 25 July at 4.30pm. The registration packs of the successful applicants will then be forwarded with payment to Centre Source by the Canning Education District Office.
All applications will be reviewed by a panel and successful applicants will be notified by 29 July.

On page 1 students from Challis PS feature in an article on their involvement in Student Signatures in Space program.
On page 9 it is reported that 2 Sevenoaks students are among 12 students heading of to Japan as part of a cultural exchange.
On page 13 Walliston PS teacher Bernard Arrantash writes about camping safaris for students that he has conducted for the past 32 years.
On page 15 a feature on Marketing Your School features Neerigen Brook and Yale PS's as well as Challis ECEC.
On page 16 High Wycombe PS's fundraising efforts for the Tsunami Schools Appeal are recognised.
On page 23 there is a photo of the Queens Park PS football team from 1931!
On a sad note there is an obituary on page 23 for our recently bereaved colleague Christine Jacobs who worked at both Yule Brook College and Sevenoaks Senior College.

RETURNED SPORTING EQUIPMENT
The Gosnells police have returned to Thornlie PS a full set of new volley ball equipment which was stolen from a school.
