Executive Email Week 2 Term 1 2005

CONGRATULATIONS!

Curtin Primary School Teacher Camilla Erceg has won the City of South Perth Australia Day Active Citizenship Award. The Award recognises the significant contribution that Camilla has made to the academic and social development of students for over 35 years at Curtin (formerly Koonawarra) Primary School. Congratulations Camilla!

SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAYS

Thank you to Principals who have submitted their plans for School Development Days 2005. The deadline for submission is the end of Term 1 (April 8) and you are encouraged to consult the School Development Days 2005 policy to ensure your compliance with the guidelines.

INDIGENOUS TUTORIAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME

Applications for the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme that is available for eligible students close on 18 February 2005. For further information please contact Yvonne Green, Aboriginal Education Manager on 9311 0513. Please fax completed forms to Harry Thorne, (Consultant) on 9264 4664.

CARETAKER CONVENTIONS ~ MAINTENANCE, CAPITAL WORKS SIGNAGE

We have been advised that a small number of principals have expressed concern that the erection of signage as part of maintenance and capital programs breaches the caretaker conventions, and have subsequently refused for the signs to be erected.
Please be advised that the $65m Fixing Our Schools Maintenance Program is considered an existing program and the contract for the signage was let some time prior to the calling of the election.
Likewise with signage being erected as part of any capital works in schools. These decisions were made previous to the caretaker period.

BOUNCING BABY BOY!

We are pleased to inform you that Nicola Sparkes from the District Office gave birth to Scott Alastair Sparkes-McDonald on 19 December 2004. Scott weighed in at 8lbs and he, Nicola and proud Dad Douglas are all doing well. Congratulations from all of your colleagues.
