THANK YOU TO RELIEVING DISTRICT DIRECTORS

During the course of the term Dave Wood and Garry Hewitt took on the role of District Director in the absence of Keith and Leila. We trust that they found the role both challenging and professionally rewarding and thank them for the significant leadership and good humour that they both brought to the role of District Director.

CANNING DISTRICT SCHOOLS SHINE IN SCHOOL MATTERS

Our District figured significantly in Edition 3 of School Matters.

• On page 3 a beaming Morgan Reid-Jones from Collier PS was pictured with the Premier Geoff Gallop and the Minister for Education and Training Lilijanna Ravlich receiving the Premier's Summer Reading Challenge Award.
• On page 6 an article celebrates the work of Thornlie PS as an example of best practice in boy's education. Hugh McCracken, Principal and Bill Johnstone, Teacher have presented workshops on the whole school approach to Health, Wellbeing and Inclusivity. Thornlie PS continues to improve the attendance and literacy and numeracy rates amongst boys at the school.
• On page 17 a radiant Jo Stephens, Principal Kensington PS features in an article on the marketing of government schools and the work of the Promoting the Canning District Committee in collaboration with public relations consultant Claudia Renner.

Well done to all those that are keeping Canning at the forefront of education!

HEALTH AND WELL BEING - BRENDAN HART !

We hear our colleague Brendan Hart, Principal Millen PS completed the recent Bridges Fun Run in a very respectable 51 minutes. Well done Brendan. If you hear of any noteworthy examples of colleagues looking after their own or others health and well being please notify Mark Williams for inclusion in the Exec Email.

As Term 1 ends please take time to reflect on the work you and your respective school teams have put in to improve the social and educational outcomes for Canning students. We hope you have a good break and look forward to working with you in Term 2.
