EXECUTIVE EMAIL WEEK 6 TERM 2 2005

 WELCOME KIM GUELFI

We extend a warm welcome to Kim Guelfi who has assumed the  role of District Director in Keith Newton's absence. Kim brings a wide range of skills and  experience to the  role of Director and  most recently was Principal Consultant School Review in the  Fremantle-Peel District Office.

 CANNING DISTRICT IN SCHOOL MATTERS

Canning District schools figured prominently in the most recent edition of School  Matters. Page 7 outlines Como SC and  Tranby PS's involvement in the  ENRICH program, page 10's story on Back to School Day features  both South Perth PS and Kent Street SHS and on the  sporting front Jamiee Nobbs from Como PS is featured in a story about her ice-skating achievements.

 WESTFIELD PREMIER'S EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP 

Congratulations to Bill Johnstone, Thornlie Primary School, on winning a Westfield Premier's Education Scholarship. The scholarship provides funds to enable Bill to travel overseas to undertake research and to attend conferences and workshops in his chosen area. We look forward to the opportunity for Bill to share his findings with us on his return.

 CLASSIFICATION REVIEW PROCESS FOR SCHOOL SUPPORT STAFF 

A number of inquiries have been received from Principals who were unable to attend the workshops that present information on the Classification Review Process for School Support Staff. 

A workshop has been arranged for metropolitan school Principals who have not yet attended these workshops and is scheduled for Thursday 9 June 8.30am-12pm at the Oxford Hotel, Cnr Anzac Terrace and 368 Oxford Street, Mount Hawthorn.  Please RSVP on  9264 4020.

SIS PREOFESSIONAL LEARNING WORKSHOPS

Introduction to Curriculum Manager, Monitoring and Evaluating and Reporting to Parents for Teachers and Administrators Workshops will be held at Technology Park on 21 and 22 June 2005. Teachers and Administrators will be provided with a brief introduction to the Monitoring and Evaluating functions within SIS Curriculum Manager and the System Summative Reporting to Parents. Two sessions are available for primary schools - AM or PM on June 21 and one session is available for secondary schools - AM on June 22.For further information contact Pieter Van der Meulen (DCC SIS) on 9311 0562.

 DET'S REGULATORY FRAMEWORK

The Managers of Operations have attached a document to assist Principals in researching  answers to both common and complex issues that arise in schools. The directions in the attachment will lead you to the  Regulatory Framework Inquiry Bulletin Board (RFIBB) which has a broad range of extremely useful information pertinent to school operations. Outside of the  RFIBB you can of course contact your respective Manager of Operations.

 TEACHING  POSITION AT CANNINGTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Cannington Community College is seeking applicants for the  position of  Level 3 Program Coordinator - Maths teacher. The attachment 'level 3 prog coord' contains detailed information on the  position.
