Cloverdale PS was recently invited to nominate two students to become part of the Children's Advisory Group (CAG), run by the Office of Children and Youth (OCY) for the Department of Community Development. CAG has only 9 primary school representatives for the whole state. OCY was so impressed with the children's collaborative planning sessions they ran in 2004, that the school was invited to join other schools as part of this elite group. Students elected representatives, who will spend a day each month in the Perth Office of Children and Youth where they will work as part of a team to make sure children's ideas are heard in Western Australia and to develop integrated policies and programs that are child friendly.
As in past years, information pertaining to funding for qualifications relevant to Water-based Activities is contained in the 2005 Schools Supplementary Funding Guidelines booklet. Unfortunately, the release of this booklet was delayed and it was recognised that schools may now have difficulty in meeting the specified closing date for applications. Consequently the closing date has been changed to COB Friday 8 April. To further assist schools a copy of the relevant section of the booklet is attached to the Exec Email.
The Canning Child Protection training roll out will commence in Term 2 with a workshop for Primary School Principals and 2 key staff members per school. This has been scheduled for the 6 May or 19 May from 8.30am to 11.30am at Willow Pond.
