This award has been won by Kewdale Primary school for their Bush Regeneration Project.

Helen Astachiw is the Secretary of the Bush Regeneration Committee.

The Bush Regeneration Committee comprising community members, parents and teachers has turned a wasteland dominated by dying pine trees into an area of lush native vegetation that is a source of great pride for the Kewdale school community.

Since 2001 approximately 1200 trees have been planted by the students as part of a 10 year strategic plan developed by the committee. Grants and sponsorship have been received from the Belmont City Council, Main Roads, Toyota and the Belmont Rotary Club to ensure the longevity of the project.
