For teachers of Indigenous students
Schools and libraries that serve Indigenous communities should seek advice from senior people with authority in the Indigenous community on whether any reference to or image of deceased persons connected with that community that appears on this Site should be concealed, and if so, how this should be done. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people show great respect for deceased members of their family and group. Mourning ceremonies may be conducted over several years after a person's death. In many instances the name of the person is not spoken during the period of mourning, and people may be upset if they see images of the deceased.
