THE TASK
Students designed and created a souvenir program
for the whole school musical production.
The class investigated commercially made souvenir
programs and agreed on criteria for developing an effective program.
In groups, students then determined what information was needed
and collected it. Using their criteria they planned and drafted
their programs using word processors, inserting digital photos where
appropriate. Drafts were peer assessed and edited. The finished
products were bulk printed in colour and sold before the school
peformance.
This learning activity also involved the production
of concert tickets and advertising posters.
ICT ENRICHMENT
-
Creating, editing and improving the draft
programs was simplified by working digitally.
-
Use of a word processor gave a clean, professional
look to the programs. Images and text were printed in colour.
This enhanced the products and boosting sales.
-
The production process used the colour printer,
value adding to the programs.

ASSESSMENT
- Students peer assessed the souvenir programs using the agreed
criteria.
- The three learning outcomes were monitored continually throughout
the process of creating the programs; in particular using questioning
and by reviewing the students' plans and draft programs.
- Students completed a self-evaluation at the close of the learning
activity.
