The Climate Change Project is an online space for students in years 5 to 10 to undertake class projects or activities on the topic of climate change. Students participate under the guidance of a teacher who registers and coordinates student activities.
The Climate Change Project provides an opportunity for students to showcase digital materials created as part of their climate change activities. These digital materials could include photos, audio files, movies, podcasts, animations, webpages or powerpoint presentations, and are displayed in a secure online gallery where students can share and discuss their work with students from other schools. Regular news and information updates are provided through the web site to project participants.

Students can use this website to share their work on any activity that is related to the theme of 'Climate Change'. There is a CMIS resources guide that has been developed which demonstrates how climate change activities map to current curriculum outcomes.
Additional Teaching Ideas and Resources Guides have also been developed. All of these resources are available under the heading "Project Resources" on the Climate Change Project site on the DET Portal.
The Climate Change Project also welcomes the participation and submission of digital materials prepared by students from schools who have already undertaken climate change projects or activities - perhaps as part of the Sustainable Schools Project.
The climate change initiative is a planned ongoing collaborative venture between participating students.![]()
There are two steps:
Step 1. Teachers register for the Climate Change Project
Step 2. Teachers register students in order for them to be able to access the project site through the DET Portal.
