Kim Gamble has been drawing
and painting for as long as he can remember and
has become one of Australia's favourite illustrators
of children's books. He was born in Sydney in 1952
and now lives in a small country town in NSW. In
1988 he began illustrating for NSW School Magazine
and his first colour picture book The Magnificent
Nose and Other Marvels, written by Anna Fienberg
won the 1992 Children's Book of The Year Award for
Younger Readers. The author-illustrator partnership
between Kim Gamble and Anna Fienberg is one of the
most successful in children's book publishing. Kim
works full-time as an illustrator and regularly
conducts workshops in schools.
Kim received The Crichton Award for Children's Book
Illustration in 1992.

Susanne Gervay writes realistic
fiction for children and young adults about topics
that have touched her or her family's life - divorce,
death, bullying, cancer, the search for identity,
multiculturalism. She also writes short stories
for adults. Her parents were Hungarian migrants
who settled in in Sydney where Susanne still lives.
Susanne's own website
is bright and inviting with interesting graphics
to entice children and teenagers to read about

Morris Gleitzman is one of Australia's
most popular authors for children and teenagers
as is evident by his numerous Children's Choice
Awards. His books often combine humour with serious
issues and many have been published overseas. As
well as writing novels, Morris has written play

He was born in England in 1953, immigrated to Australia

| Illustrator Peter Gouldthorpe
lives in Hobart, Tasmania. Well known for his
children’s picture book illustrations,
his work also appears in the After Dark series,
several adult non-fiction titles and a number
of public art commissions in Tasmania. His trompe
l’oeil murals adorn walls, alleys, restaurants
and hospitals in Hobart and beyond. They are
a source of delight for any who happen upon them
unexpectedly as well as for those who are able
to enjoy his art as part of their daily life.
Realistic in style, Gouldthorpe’s illustrations
are emotionally evocative and convey a strong
sense of place. His work has been shortlisted
in the Children’s Book Council of Australia
Awards four times, winning Picture Book of the
Year in 1994 for First Light,
a collaboration with Gary Crew.

Bob Graham,
popular picture book illustrator and author, was
born in Sydney in 1942. He studied drawing and painting,
after graduation went to the UK, returned to Sydney
in 1969 and began his career as an illustrator and
designer. Between 1983 and 1995 Bob lived in Melbourne
working as an illustrator for a publishing house.
He now lives in the UK and works on a monthly comic-strip
for a French magazine as well as continuing to produce
outstanding picture books.
Bob's picture books have won numerous awards in
Australia and overseas.

book illustrator Armin Greder was born in Switzerland
and migrated to Brisbane, Australia in 1971. Armin
has worked as a graphic designer and currently lectures
tertiary art students, illustrating picture books
in between teaching and other interests. As a child
Armin spent a lot of time drawing in the back of
his exercise books when he should have been paying
attention in class. In books such as The Great
Bear and An Ordinary Day his art reflects
his European background. Charcoal often features
in his work.
