Cyclones and Hurricanes - Curriculum Context

Students understand and appreciate the physical, biological and technological world and have the knowledge and skills to make decisions in relation to it.
Overarching Learning Outcome 7
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the United States have shown the destructive power of tropical storms.

Northern Australia, including the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia, are subject to tropical cyclones during the wet season from November to April.

Definitions
Tropical Cyclones

Bureau of Meteorology

Note: Cyclones are also called Hurricanes or Typhoons in other parts of the world.
