The Old news page is arranged chronologically, i.e. the oldest news is at the
bottom of the page.
The new print edition of the full Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC22) was released in late 2003. The online WebDewey is continuously updated so the updates and changes were available earlier. The print and online 14th edition of the abridged classification, ADDC14 was released in late April 2004. New SCIS records now contain DDC22 and ADDC14 call numbers.
Changes from the 21st and abridged 13th editions are not major. The areas with significant revisions and additions are 004-006 Computer science, 305-306 Sociology and 610 Medicine. There are also some relocations and expansions to improve 510 Mathematics. Click on DDC for details of the major changes.
The new General Material Designation [electronic resource] replaced [computer software] in SCIS catalogue records in June 2002.
The change affects the $h subfield of the 245 title field for records for CD-ROMs and other computer files. It does not affect records for websites. SCIS has converted existing database records and you should now be seeing new records for CD-ROMs and other software with the new GMD, e.g.
245 0 0 $a Kid's paint & puzzles $h [electronic resource] : $b kids' interactive software.

SCISWeb contains some records for items that are only in non-roman scripts, e.g. Japanese. If an item has an ISBN use this number to order the record. If the item does not have an ISBN you may still be able to order the record. Check here for further information.
Some publishers re-use ISBNs. They may use the same ISBN for translations
of the original book into other languages, new editions of the same title,
books in the same series or quite different titles.
When ordering by ISBN from SCISWeb, you will get the record for the
first item catalogued. When you notice that the title doesn't
match the resource in hand, you will need to do a title or keyword search to
get the SCISWeb number of the record you require.
