Study guides to support many educational videorecordings are available free of charge from the EnhanceTV website. We have catalogued many of these study guides and you can download the records into your library system in the usual manner.
We have catalogued the majority of ClickView programs onto the SCIS database, and will continue to do so as more become available. To download these catalogue records as a batch, go to the SCIS website. Log on to SCIS, click on SCISWeb, then click on Create orders and choose Special order files.
There you will find a choice of Files to download, either the complete set of ClickView records or the update file. Choose the file you want, click Process order now and these can then be downloaded into your library system as normal.
The Schools Online Thesaurus, or ScOT, is under development for use on online educational resources.
SCIS is currently trialling the use of ScOT headings on SCIS catalogue records. Although the ScOT terms appear in the SCIS OPAC, they are not downloaded on SCIS records so will have no impact on school catalogues.

A number of new subject headings have been added to the SCIS Subject Headings List in the last 12 months.

The statewide licence for public schools has been renewed to 2008. All access and passwords should be the same as 2005.

Under the statewide licence between Curriculum Corporation and DET, WA public schools can now access the SCIS Authority Files online. These files are now available to download directly from the SCIS website by logging on to SCIS as normal and clicking on the WA Authority Files button (next to the SCISWeb button).
Because different library systems handle these files differently, you need to find out from your library system vendor which is the correct file format to choose for your particular library system before downloading the authorities . If you have problems downloading please consult your IT support person first. If the files cannot be downloaded at the school, please ring CMIS Cataloguing on 9264 4750.

From January 2007 publishers upgraded to 13-digit ISBNs rather than the previous 10 digits. Prior to 2007, they started supplying 13-digit ISBNs in conjunction with the 10-digit ISBN. SCIS continued to use the 10-digit ISBN on records up to the start of 2007. Further information is available on the SCIS website at http://www1.curriculum.edu.au/scis/managing/catfaqs.htm#13
We have been advised by barcode reader suppliers that it is a simple matter to convert scanners to read 13 digit ISBNs. There are instructions on the SCIS website at http://www1.curriculum.edu.au/scis/productinfo/scanners.htm for changing your scanner. Changing to 13 digit ISBNs will be vital once the 979 prefix appears as these numbers are not compatible with the 10 digit ISBNs.
