The management of resources in the school library includes the day-to-day borrowing of resources as well as the processes of weeding and stocktaking.

Circulation

The section on circulation includes establishing borrower details and setting borrowing parametes on the library system, the process of lending of different types of material including periodicals and bulk loans, and dealing with overdue resources.

Weeding (including archiving) and Stocktake

These functions are located together as they are often undertaken at the same time. The section on weeding covers what needs to be considered for the weeding process, how to identify resources for weeding, what to mark on the resources once removed and what records to keep. The stocktake section gives an overview of the process and the function it provides in the school library. The archiving component provides information about resources that provide a corporate history relating to the school and should be retained in a separate location to the main collection.
