Students investigate relevant issues and the values inherent in technological developments and application of technology. They consider the implications for societies and environments when identifying opportunities and when meeting individuals' groups' and communities' needs.
Locating
Designing a search strategy using multiple resources.
Search - library catalogue, CD-ROMs, Internet, journals, etc.
Refine search terms.
Selecting
Select information - skimming & scanning resources.
Use indexes and tables of content.
Evaluate information critically - bias, prejudice & inconsistencies.
Does the source of information have authority?
Make notes of relevant information - notemaking framework.
Record author, title, URL, date - bibliography.
Devising

Students generate ideas and prepare design and production proposals in response to the specifications developed from the design challenge.
Processing & Organising
Information from different sources.
Gaps in the information collected.
Outline the plan for your final copy.
Presenting
Prepare a draft copy and edit it.
Complete final copy.
Compile bibliography.
Producing

Students effectively manage production by adapting and adjusting processes in response to constraints and any difficulties.
Evaluating
Evaluate the process.
Evaluate the product. Have you successfully addressed the research task?
Self-evaluation, peer evaluation, teacher evaluation.
Evaluating
Students evaluate intentions, plans and actions with a view to modification and improvement. They develop and apply criteria to assess how well they have responded to the design challenge.
