The System Performance branch is involved in the coordination of several Vocational Education and Training (VET) surveys including: the Department’s annual TAFEWA Student Satisfaction Survey, the National Centre for Vocational Education Research’s (NCVER) annual national Student Outcomes Survey and the NCVER national survey of Employers’ Use and Views of the VET System.
The annual TAFEWA Student Satisfaction Survey measures student satisfaction with the provision of services, facilities and quality of training. Information regarding students’ preferred training methods and key sources of course information can also be obtained from the survey. Apprentices and Trainees are given an opportunity to provide feedback on their workplace training experiences.
Each year, the survey collects State and college/institute level data from current students who are enrolled at a TAFEWA college, Curtin Vocational Training and Education Centre (VTEC) or Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAPPA) institute. The annual national Student Outcomes Survey measures the employment and further education outcomes of TAFE graduates and module completers, including how relevant their training had been and how satisfied they were with this training.
Each year, the NCVER publishes reports with national and State level data and college/Institute level reports are published biennially. Click here for a summary report of the 2007 Student Outcomes Survey. Click here for a one page summary of the 2006 survey results.
The Survey of Employers' Use and Views of VET aims to measure the extent of employer engagement and satisfaction with VET in meeting the skill needs of their workforce. NCVER currently conducts the Employer survey biennially. Click here for a copy of the 2007 summary national report.
