ITAS provides supplementary tutorial assistance to assist Aboriginal students with their literacy and numeracy skills in years 4-10. Students undertaking TEE studies may access tuition in other subject areas. Tutors work with students individually or in small groups.
There are four ITAS elements in public schools.
Lower Secondary ITAS (Years 8-10)
Upper Secondary ITAS (Years 11 and 12)

Secondary students involved in Follow the Dream will be eligible for
tuition. The Follow the Dream coordinators will administer the tuition
program. Students accessing tuition through FTD are not eligible for
funding from any of the other programs stated above.
2010 Indigenous Tutorial
Assistance Scheme (ITAS) Programs
This document details changes and requirements of the ITAS programs for
2010. Tentative allocations can be made for 2010 in order to
assist with staffing but these allocations will be subject to the
attendance of students at the school for the 2010 school year.

Includes administrative considerations and teaching resources to assist staff in operating an effective ITAS program
This is for the PRIMARY and LOWER SECONDARY PROGRAMS ONLY. A condition of participation in this program is the attendance of all ITAS tutors in the initial Professional Learning. Experienced ITAS teachers will be encouraged to present a short 5- 10 minute presentation, if time permits, on successes in the program, this may include a challenge that has been overcome, a successful strategy or useful resources.
