Determining whether there is an Aboriginal perspective on a particular teaching topic
The broad questions are:
Does the content I plan to teach demonstrate, mirror, contrast, respect, discount or omit Aboriginal 'world views'?
and/or
Does the content I plan to teach demonstrate how Aboriginal people and culture have been affected by contact with European cultures/Western 'world views'?
In answering these questions please consider:
- Is there Aboriginal knowledge to incorporate in this topic?
- Are there Aboriginal opinions and viewpoints to incorporate in this topic?
- Are there Aboriginal people who are important to this topic?
- Are there Aboriginal versions of events relating to this topic?
- Are there particular Aboriginal obligations and responsibilities relevant to this topic?
- Are there Aboriginal priorities and aspirations relevant to this topic?
