The Warren Blackwood District Office Aboriginal Education Team has carriage and responsibility to implement the Warren Blackwood District Aboriginal Education Strategic Plan. The plan aims to achieve the accelerated improvement of educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in government schools.
The Aboriginal Education Team supports schools, and develops and maintains positive partnerships with the Aboriginal community with and through the Aboriginal Education Advisory Council and the District Council. This partnership ensures that Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islanders are involved in planning and decision-making on Aboriginal education issues that affect the educational achievement of Aboriginal students.

The Manager, as part of the district leadership team, has key responsibility for the provision of advice and support to school communities and the District Director, and for the development, implementation and monitoring of programs (in particular the implementation of the Aboriginal Education Operational Plan) designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students achieve comparable educational outcomes.

As part of the District's Aboriginal Education Team, the Coordinator's role is to:
- coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of programs and policies to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students;
- liaise with schools; and
- provide cultural knowledge and advice about local Noongar culture and family connections.

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer's role is a district-based role, liaising with schools and the Aboriginal community. They provide support to the District Director, develop effective partnerships between the Aboriginal community and schools in the provision of quality education for Aboriginal students, and provide cultural knowledge and advice about local Noongar culture and family connections.
