The Aboriginal Education team currently includes the Manager and three Coordinators, three attendance officers and an Aboriginal school-based teaching officer. The Swan Education District also hosts an Aboriginal Education Advisory Council.

- Assist schools and the District in the implementation of Department policies and priorities in schools, particularly the Aboriginal Education and Training Strategy (2009-2013) initiatives.
- Support schools and District Office in developing and implementing an Aboriginal Education plan in accordance with the Aboriginal Education and Training Strategy (2009-2013) within their school planning process.
- Give timely and efficient advice through the District using available human, physical and financial resources.
- Develop and implement District based programs that enhance the performance of Aboriginal students within the District.
- Manage and provide advice on specific Aboriginal programs within the schools.

- Provide and maintain effective networks in Aboriginal Education within the schools and the District.
- Collaborate with school and District Office staff to support Aboriginal Education and Aboriginal culture.

Year 10s ASBT
- Assist where directed in dealing with attendance issues
- Complete and collect all relevant documentation
- Determine all school activities that may impact on the attendance of students to ASBT course activities
Year 11 and 12s – Traineeships
- Assist in finding host organisations
- Work with SIETA where possible
- Establish options during year 10 work experience
- Meet and greet trainee at the work site on the first day of work
- Hand over to JW for progression of traineeship
- Provide personal protective equipment.
