The Pilbara Education District
Welcome to the Pilbara Education District. The district comprises four senior high schools, seventeen primary schools, six remote community schools, two education support schools, a school of the air and a camp school located within a 510,000 kilometre squared geographic region.
The schools cater for the educational needs of about 8,000 K to 12 students and are staffed by approximately 1,000 teaching and non-teaching employees.
Schools within the Pilbara district have a strong focus on:
- Literacy and numeracy
- Attendance, engagement and retention
- Academic rigour and
- Forging strong relationships with the local community, particularly industry.
I have a both personal and professional commitment to the district, having grown up in Dampier, Tom Price and Newman, then returning to work in both Wickham and Hedland. My children were provided with excellent educational opportunities during their time at Wickham DHS, Baler PS and Hedland SHS.
Given my own experiences, I am confident that whether a parent, student or staff member you will enjoy your time in the Pilbara.
