The Kimberley District Education Office has many experienced personnel to assist in all aspects of your teaching and learning programmes. The office is split four distinct specialised areas:
- Aboriginal Education: The Aboriginal Education team is available for assistance with cultural information relating to teaching Aboriginal students, living and teaching in a remote location and cultural awareness training; also they are experienced in the programmes, funding and resources available for schools to access.
- Curriculum: The intended outcomes of schooling in Western Australia are defined in the Curriculum Framework by the Overarching Learning Outcomes. These are broad understandings, skills and values which have been developed as essential Learning Area Outcomes in each of the eight Learning areas. The curriculum team can assist with all aspects of curriculum, programs and state initiatives.
- District Operations: These functions, carried out in partnership with the whole District Office Team, Central Office and schools, represent our core business.
- Student Services: The Student Services section of the Kimberley District Education Office is comprised of the Student Services Manager, 4 School Psychologists, a Speech and Language Support Officer and a Visiting Teacher for the Deaf.
Aboriginal Education Team
The Manager provides advice to schools, executive members of the Kimberley District Education Office (KDEO): District Director and Director of Aboriginal Education on all matters relating to improving attendance, retention and educational outcomes for Aboriginal students in the Kimberley.
The Manager also reports on programs that improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal students and provides advice to other departments, service providers and sectors on matters relating to Aboriginal students enrolled in DET schools in the Kimberley.
The Coordinator's role is to support District Office staff and schools with the development and implementation of teaching and learning programs that are linked to the Aboriginal Education & Training Operational Plan:

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer's (ALO) role is to:
- Build and maintain effective partnerships between the District Office, schools, parents/caregivers and the Aboriginal community.
- Ensure that professional development in Aboriginal Education is supported.
- Implement the District Office Strategic Plan for Aboriginal Education.
The ALO is a link between the District Office and school communities, assisting in the service provision to schools and assisting Aboriginal staff to ensure the community is represented when improving the outcomes of Aboriginal students.
