District Contacts
The Aboriginal Education Team consists of five permanent positions - the Manager, 2 Coordinators and 2 Aboriginal Liaison Officers. The Aboriginal Education Team supports the District Office teams, South West Service Area Aboriginal Education teams, and school staff and their community. Each Team member has a variety of roles and responsibilities.
Manager Aboriginal Education

The Manager:
- Provides leadership and support, to advise and liaise with District Directors, District Office Managers and staff, School Administrators & communities, Aboriginal Education Advisory Council and Aboriginal Community, and Interagency contacts
- Develops, monitors, evaluates and reviews a District Aboriginal Education plan
- Implements & monitors Aboriginal Education programs
- Manages Federal and State funded projects, assesses applications, monitors & reports on approved projects, eg IESIP
- Supports Central Office initiatives, eg Follow the Dream
- Identifies PD requirements, manages the development & delivery, and reviews PD content and requests

The Coordinator:
- Supports, negotiates, consults, collaborates, advises District Office staff, Teachers, AIEOs, Students and Families, Aboriginal Education Advisory Council
- Builds District Office relationships with schools, families, community groups
- Supports and collaborates with city councils & other government and non government agencies
- Assists with the development, monitoring, review and evaluation of a District Aboriginal Education plan
- Develops and delivers PD
- Supports schools with the program initiatives
- Monitors and maintains data on Attendance, Suspensions, Year 11 & 12 retention, Year 8 Transition

The ALO:
- Supports, advises and liaises with District Office staff, AIEOs, Students & families, Teachers, Aboriginal Education Advisory Council
- Supports and advises the building of relationships with/between schools, families, & community groups
- Supports and advises city councils & other government and non government agencies
- Assists with the development, monitoring, review and evaluation of a District Aboriginal Education plan
- Assists with the development and delivery of PD and assists in review PD content and practice
- Presents student and parent workshops
- Supports schools with the program initiatives
- Assists with the maintenance of databases
Aboriginal Education Advisory Council
The Aboriginal Education Advisory Council (AEAC) is an avenue for Aboriginal people and non Aboriginal parents, careers or guardians of Aboriginal students to advise on a range of issues that impact on Aboriginal Education and to ensure Aboriginal perspectives and views are taken into account in local decision making processes.
Council meetings are held at least once a term, though additional meetings may be held to consider funding applications or other pressing issues.
