Six clusters of
outcomes in the Mathematics learning area will be assessed: Working
Mathematically, Measurement, Space, Chance and Data, Number and
Algebra.
All students
take part in two separate 45-minute assessments. The total time
for administering each assessment will be about 60 minutes.
One of the
mathematics assessments will consist of questions assessing Space
and Measurement. The other will consist of questions
assessing Number, Algebra and Chance and Data. A
small number of Working Mathematically questions will be
included in both assessments.
The assessments
can be done in any order. Students will require a calculator for
both components.
The questions
in the MSE9 mathematics assessment will mainly address outcomes
at levels 4 and 5. A small number of questions addressing level
3 and level 6 outcomes are included.
