MARKING

The 2007 marking of the MSE9 assessment tasks is scheduled for 1 – 14 September.  Qualified teachers will undertake the marking and expressions of interest are sought from eligible teachers who are interested in marking.

Participation in the marking is recognised by the Professional Learning Institute as system-endorsed professional development.

Interested teachers should return the Expression of interest form by 29 June 2007.

INFORMATION

  • Approximately 24,000 assessments from each curriculum area are scanned and marked on screen.

  • Markers work in groups of 6-8 with a group leader.

  • Strict reliability and comparability measures are adopted and monitored by the group leader.

  • Markers may choose to attend either a day or evening session. Day session times are 8.30am to 3.00pm and evening session times are 4.00pm to 9.00pm.

  • Once the marking has begun, markers cannot change between sessions.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Teaching qualifications.

 Desirable

  • Previous experience in marking MSE9 English, Mathematics or Science assessments, or WALNA assessments.

  • Other MSE or system level marking.

  • Interest in Mathematics, English and Science assessment and development.

Secondary teachers are encouraged to apply. Teachers who are currently employed at a school will need to obtain the principal's endorsement to participate in the marking.
