Parent School Partnerships Initiative (PSPI)

Description

The PSPI program is a partnership between the Department of Education and Training (DET) and the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

The PSPI focuses on the implementation of creative approaches to improving the education outcomes of Indigenous school students. It encourages parents of Indigenous students, Indigenous communities and schools to work together in partnership to address local barriers to education. The PSPI supplements mainstream education services and programs and provides a mechanism for capacity building in schools and communities.

Schools (or other organisations), in partnership with Aboriginal parents and community members, must complete an application form to be considered for project funding. This is submission-based, competitive funding. There are usually two funding rounds per year.

DEEWR and DET district office staff are available to assist with information on the application process. Applications are available from your local DEEWR office or on the DEEWR website.
