The Directorate has entered into partnership with the Western Australian Primary Principals Association (WAPPA) to provide a range of induction and professional development initiatives for principals known as Leading From The Front program (LFF). This initiative uses experienced principals to take other principals through a structured course focussing on Aboriginal education. School leaders examine and share current educational thinking and practices in forums relating to Aboriginal education and discuss effective strategies for improving outcomes for Aboriginal students. A key component of the professional development is an action research project.
Leading from the Front: Aboriginal Education Symposium
The symposium enables members to continue to develop their capacity to provide
high level educational leadership in Aboriginal education in schools.
Participants work actively and collaboratively over the course of the
symposium as part of their professional development and explore current and
innovative educational thinking and practice in Aboriginal education.
This program is currently being reviewed to include a stronger focus towards
providing support to aspirant leaders for 2010. Program dates will soon
be listed on the WAPPA Professional Learning site.
